Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp shelled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 clove garlic crushed or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil or oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to your heat preference

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp with olive oil, paprika, crushed garlic (or garlic powder), salt, onion powder, thyme, basil (or oregano), black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Toss until the shrimp are well coated with the spice mixture.
  • Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Allow it to heat up for a minute or two until it's hot.
  • Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink and slightly charred.
  • Using a spatula or tongs, carefully flip the shrimp over and cook for another 1-2 minutes until they are fully cooked through and have a nice blackened crust.
  • Remove the shrimp from the skillet and serve immediately. They are delicious on their own, in tacos, or over a bed of rice or salad.
