Ingredients

For the Pretzel Rolls:

  • 12 pieces frozen dinner rolls high-quality like Rhodes
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • coarse pretzel salt or kosher salt to taste
  • 1 can Grands! Biscuits not flaky

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Begin by taking the frozen dinner rolls out of the freezer. Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced apart. Cover them with a clean kitchen towel and allow them to thaw and rise for about 1 hour.
  • While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will help create that perfect crispy exterior.
  • In a large pot, bring 6 cups of water to a gentle boil. Once boiling, carefully add 1 cup of baking soda. Be cautious, as the mixture will bubble up. Stir until the baking soda is fully dissolved.
  • After about 1 hour, the rolls should have risen nicely. Gently drop each roll into the boiling baking soda solution, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Boil for about 30 seconds on each side, then remove them with a slotted spoon and return them to the baking sheet.
  • Brush each boiled roll with melted butter. Sprinkle coarse pretzel salt generously over the top. If you’re using the Grands! Biscuits, you can also cut them in half and place them on top of the rolls for added texture and flavor.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and puffed up.
  • Once baked, remove the pretzel rolls from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Serve warm, and enjoy the delightful flavor and texture of your semi-homemade pretzel rolls!
