Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the ground oats, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
Step 5: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
Step 7: Optionally chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 8: Drop rounded balls of dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Step 9: Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
Step 10: Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
