Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 10 caramels individually wrapped
  • 0.25 cups shredded toasted coconut
  • 0.25 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, stir in the 1 1/2 cups of old-fashioned oats. Reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes or until the oats are tender and the mixture is creamy.
  • While the oats are cooking, unwrap the 10 caramels and place them in a small bowl. You can microwave them for about 15-20 seconds until they soften, or add them directly to the oatmeal during the last minute of cooking to melt them into the oats.
  • Once the oats are cooked and creamy, stir in the melted caramels until fully incorporated. This will give your oatmeal that rich caramel flavor.
  • Gently fold in the 1/4 cup of shredded toasted coconut and 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Allow the chocolate to melt slightly into the warm oats, adding a luxurious touch.
  • Spoon the Samoa oatmeal into serving bowls. For an extra touch, feel free to sprinkle additional toasted coconut or chocolate chips on top. Dive in and enjoy every delicious bite!

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving bowls

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or fewer caramels based on your preference.
  • Toast the oats in the saucepan for a richer flavor.
  • For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate chips and alternative caramel options.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
