Ingredients

For the Marinade:

  • 1 pound salmon (either a single portion or 4 (6-ounce) fillets)
  • 1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

Stepwise Method:

  • Step 1: Prepare the Marinade - In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of extra-virgin olive oil, 3 tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of honey or pure maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper. Whisk until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth.
  • Step 2: Marinate the Salmon - Place your 1 pound of salmon in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the prepared marinade over the salmon, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for maximum flavor.
  • Step 3: Preheat Your Cooking Surface - If you’re baking, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If grilling, prepare your grill for medium-high heat.
  • Step 4: Cook the Salmon - Remove the salmon from the marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the salmon on a baking sheet or directly on the grill. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or grill for 6-8 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillets. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork.
  • Step 5: Serve and Enjoy - Once cooked, remove the salmon from heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve it with your favorite sides and enjoy the delightful flavors of your homemade salmon marinade!
