Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb thin sliced beef round or sirloin steaks
  • 1/2 large onion sliced into rings
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • Olive oil spray
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • Fresh cracked pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Start by slicing your onion into rings and the mushrooms into even pieces. This ensures they cook at the same rate. If you haven’t done so already, slice the beef into thin strips to ensure quick cooking.
  • Place your skillet over medium-high heat and add a light spray of olive oil. Allow the skillet to heat up for a minute or two until it’s hot but not smoking.
  • Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté them for about 3-4 minutes, or until they start to become translucent. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
  • Once the onions are soft, add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and have released their moisture.
  • Sprinkle the garlic powder, kosher salt, and fresh cracked pepper over the onion and mushroom mixture. Next, add the sliced beef to the skillet, ensuring it is spread out evenly.
  • Cook the steak for about 3-5 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking. The steak should be browned and cooked through but still tender.
  • Once everything is cooked to perfection, remove the skillet from the heat. Serve the Quick Skillet Steak with Onions and Mushrooms hot, perhaps with a side of rice or a fresh salad. Enjoy every bite!
