Instructions
Step 1: In a large saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped yellow onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Step 2: Pour in the two cans of tomato sauce, and stir in the salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes.
Step 3: While the sauce simmers, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 4: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of the dish.
Step 5: Start with a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by a generous amount of sauce, mozzarella cheese, and your choice of toppings. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and cheese on top.
