Ingredients

Salad Ingredients

  • 6 cups baby spinach packed
  • 1 medium pear sliced into thin wedges
  • ½ cup honey-glazed walnuts
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • cup Gorgonzola cheese crumbled
  • 4 slices thick-cut turkey bacon cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  • Begin by rinsing the baby spinach under cold water. Dry the leaves thoroughly using a salad spinner or by patting them down with a clean kitchen towel. Place the spinach in a large salad bowl.
  • Wash the pear thoroughly and slice it into thin wedges, leaving the skin on for added color and nutrition.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel to absorb excess grease. Once cooled, crumble the bacon.
  • In the bowl with the spinach, add the sliced pear, honey-glazed walnuts, dried cranberries, and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese.
  • Gently toss all the ingredients together using salad tongs or two large forks, being careful not to bruise the spinach leaves or pear slices.
  • Transfer the salad to serving plates or keep it in the large salad bowl for guests to help themselves. Optionally, drizzle with vinaigrette or serve without dressing.

Equipment

  • Salad Bowl
  • Skillet
  • Salad Spinner

Notes

Choose a ripe pear for optimal sweetness. Consider adding a splash of balsamic vinegar for extra flavor. If preparing ahead, keep pears separate until serving to prevent browning.
