Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg for that spicy kick

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • cup packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup 1 or 2% milk
  • ¼ cup vanilla yogurt for moisture and flavor
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

Glaze Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk for the glaze
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract a lovely flavor enhancer

Decoration

  • purple, yellow, and green sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and nutmeg until well combined.
  • Step 2: In another bowl, beat the egg, then add the light brown sugar, milk, vanilla yogurt, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  • Step 3: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold them together using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if a few lumps remain.
  • Step 4: Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill each donut cavity about two-thirds full with the batter.
  • Step 5: Place the donut pan in your preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.
  • Step 6: While the donuts are baking, prepare the glaze by combining the sifted powdered sugar, whole milk, and almond extract in a mixing bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  • Step 7: Once the donuts have cooled for a few minutes, gently remove them from the pan. Dip the tops of each donut into the glaze and place them on a wire rack to let the excess glaze drip off. Sprinkle with purple, yellow, and green sprinkles.
  • Step 8: Serve and enjoy fresh, or store in an airtight container.

Equipment

  • Donut Pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Piping Bag

Notes

Make sure not to overmix your batter to ensure light and fluffy donuts. If you don’t have a donut pan, you can use muffin tins, but baking time may vary.
