Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch to thicken the berry mixture

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup rolled oats old-fashioned oats work best
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour adds structure to the topping
  • ½ cup brown sugar for a deeper flavor
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon a warm spice that complements the berries
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • a pinch salt to enhance flavors

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Start by rinsing your berries gently under cold water. If using larger berries, slice them into smaller pieces. In a medium bowl, combine the berries, sugar, and cornstarch. Toss gently and let sit for about 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until crumbly but holds together when squeezed.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Divide the berry mixture among individual ramekins and top each with the oatmeal mixture, covering the berries completely.
  • Place ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until topping is golden brown and berries are bubbling.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
