Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wingettes
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup fresh figs chopped
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

Prepare the Wingettes

  • Pat the chicken wingettes dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture for crispy skin. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the wingettes, then season generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Toss to coat evenly.

Bake or Air-Fry the Wings

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange wingettes in a single layer on the rack.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Alternatively, air-fry at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, shaking basket every 8 minutes for even cooking.

Make the Hot-Honey Fig-Jam Glaze

  • Combine honey, chopped fresh figs, apple cider vinegar, and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir occasionally until figs soften and mixture thickens slightly, about 7-10 minutes.

Toss Wings in the Glaze

  • Transfer cooked wingettes to a large bowl. Pour hot-honey fig-jam glaze over and gently toss to coat each piece thoroughly.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve immediately, optionally garnished with extra chopped figs or fresh herbs. Pair with a crisp salad or tangy slaw for a complete dish.
