Ingredients

For the Chips:

  • 25 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup canola or vegetable oil for frying
  • to taste flaked sea salt
  • to taste other favorite seasonings (e.g., garlic powder, onion powder)

Instructions

Instructions

  • Start by taking your 25 wonton wrappers and laying them flat on a clean surface. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each wrapper into four triangles.
  • In a large frying pan, pour enough canola or vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan by about half an inch. Heat the oil over medium heat.
  • Carefully add a few wonton triangles into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
  • Once your chips are golden, remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb extra oil. While they’re still hot, sprinkle them with flaked sea salt and any other seasonings you desire.
  • Continue frying the remaining wonton triangles in batches, ensuring the oil remains hot throughout the process.

Equipment

  • Sharp Knife or Pizza Cutter
  • Large frying pan or deep fryer
  • Slotted spoon or tongs
  • Paper Towels

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate wonton wrappers in soy sauce and sesame oil before frying.
  • Experiment with different oils for unique flavors.
  • Store leftover chips in an airtight container to maintain crispiness.
