Ingredients

Fresh Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs fresh green beans ends trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 shallot diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup pecans chopped
  • 0.25 cup dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Step 1: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the trimmed green beans and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and plunge into ice water.
  • Step 2: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced shallots and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Step 3: Add chopped pecans to the skillet and toast for about 2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
  • Step 4: Return blanched green beans to the skillet, add dried cranberries, drizzle honey, and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  • Step 5: Heat through for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a serving dish. Serve warm.

Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl

Notes

For a deeper flavor, roast the pecans beforehand. Avoid overcooking the green beans for the best texture. Substitute maple syrup for honey if desired.
