Ingredients

For the Biscuits:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup cold unsalted butter cut into pieces
  • 0.75 cup cold plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 large egg beaten (for brushing on biscuits)

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Preheat and Prep - Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Step 3: Cut in the Butter - Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or a fork, cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step 4: Mix in the Greek Yogurt - In a separate bowl, combine the cold Greek yogurt, beaten egg, and cold water. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
  • Step 5: Shape the Biscuits - Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut into squares or circles.
  • Step 6: Brush and Bake - Transfer the biscuits to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Step 7: Enjoy! - Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with butter or your favorite spread.
