Ingredients

  • 8 oz whole banana peppers
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns

Instructions

Prepare the Banana Peppers

  • Start by giving your banana peppers a good rinse under cold water. Remove the stems, and if you want milder pickles, slice the peppers into rings and remove the seeds. For a spicier kick, leave the seeds intact and slice the peppers lengthwise or keep them whole.

Make the Pickling Brine

  • In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup white vinegar, 2 tablespoons salt, 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon onion powder. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the salt and sugar dissolve completely.

Pack the Peppers

  • Place the prepared banana peppers into a clean glass jar or several smaller jars. Add 1 tablespoon of everything bagel seasoning and 1 teaspoon of black peppercorns on top of the peppers for that signature flavor boost.

Add the Brine and Seal

  • Carefully pour the hot brine over the banana peppers, making sure they’re fully submerged. Leave a little headspace at the top of the jar. Seal the jar tightly with a lid.

Let the Flavors Develop

  • Allow the jar to cool to room temperature before refrigerating. For best results, let the peppers pickle for at least 24 hours, but ideally 3-5 days. The longer they sit, the more intense and flavorful they become.

Enjoy Your Pickled Peppers

  • Once pickled, these Everything-Bagel Pickled Banana Peppers are ready to enjoy! Add them to sandwiches, burgers, salads, or as a flavorful snack straight from the jar.

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Glass jar

Notes

  • Use fresh banana peppers for the best crunch and flavor.
  • Ensure salt and sugar are fully dissolved in the brine for even seasoning.
  • Let the peppers cool before refrigerating to prevent spoilage.
  • Keep peppers fully submerged in brine to avoid mold.
  • Store in the refrigerator and consume within 3 weeks for optimal freshness.
