Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups coconut palm sugar or other unrefined granulated sweetener
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • a dash kosher or sea salt
  • 1 cup lite coconut milk (canned)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the coconut palm sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and a dash of salt. Whisk them together until well combined.
  • Pour in the lite coconut milk and stir to combine with the dry ingredients.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continuously whisk the mixture as it heats up.
  • Continue whisking for about 5-7 minutes until you achieve your desired syrup consistency.
  • Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the pure vanilla extract.
  • Let the syrup cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a storage container.
