Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups slightly crushed nacho cheese-flavored tortilla chips such as Doritos
  • 1/2 cup light salad dressing your choice

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the pound of lean ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat if necessary. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and half a cup of water. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and is well combined.
  • While the beef is cooking, chop the romaine lettuce and dice the tomato. Set them aside in a large mixing bowl.
  • Once the beef is done, let it cool slightly before adding it to the bowl with the chopped lettuce and diced tomato.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the salad mixture, followed by the slightly crushed Doritos. The crunch of the Doritos is what makes this salad so delightful!
  • Drizzle your light salad dressing over the top of the salad. Toss everything together gently until well combined.
  • Serve immediately in bowls or on plates, garnishing with additional Doritos or cheese if desired. Enjoy your delicious Doritos Taco Salad!
