  • 8 slider buns slider buns soft and small
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • green onions sliced, for garnish
  • turkey bacon strips optional, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken and Sauce

  • Place the 2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts at the bottom of your crockpot.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together buffalo sauce, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, coating them well.

Slow Cook to Perfection

  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.

Shred the Chicken

  • Remove the chicken breasts and shred finely using two forks or shredding claws.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir to coat with the remaining sauce. Let soak for 10 minutes on warm.

Toast Slider Buns and Prepare Garnishes

  • Preheat oven or skillet and toast the slider buns until golden brown.
  • If using, cook the turkey bacon strips until crisp.
  • Slice green onions thinly for garnish.

Assemble the Sliders

  • Pile shredded buffalo chicken onto the bottom buns.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over hot chicken to melt slightly.
  • Add turkey bacon strips if desired, then top with sliced green onions.
  • Cap with top buns and serve immediately.

Equipment

  • Crockpot
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Forks or shredding claws
  • Basting brush
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Baking sheet or skillet

Notes

  • Use low-sodium buffalo sauce and broth to reduce salt for a lighter version.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs for juicier meat using the same cooking times.
  • Prepare the shredded chicken up to 2 days ahead and reheat before assembling sliders.
