Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 2: Add in the vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Step 4: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Step 5: Add the milk to the mixture and stir to combine.
Step 6: Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 7: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 8: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, then let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Step 9: For the frosting, combine softened butter, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and milk in a bowl. Beat until smooth.
Step 10: Once cookies are cooled, frost each cookie and decorate as desired.
