Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil for sautéing the onions
  • 1 medium Onion sliced, yellow or sweet
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar to help caramelize the onions
  • 1 crust Prepared Pizza Crust homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup Pesto store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese for gooey texture

Instructions

  • In a medium skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and stir to coat. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar. Cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • If using a refrigerated pizza crust, unroll it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Spread 1 cup of pesto evenly over the prepared pizza crust, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly distribute the caramelized onions over the pesto, followed by 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake according to the instructions for your pizza crust, typically for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
