Ingredients

Filling

  • 2 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)

Batter

  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided ½ cup for filling, ½ cup for batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Step 2: Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Step 3: In a medium bowl, toss the blueberries with ½ cup of granulated sugar and let sit.
  • Step 4: In another bowl, cream the softened butter with the remaining ½ cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and milk; stir until combined.
  • Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it out. Spoon the blueberry mixture evenly over the batter.
  • Step 6: Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Step 7: Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
