Ingredients

Bread

  • 8-12 slices sandwich bread whole wheat, white, or your preferred type

Custard Mixture

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup whole milk

Berries

  • 1 cup mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries, fresh or frozen

Optional Toppings

  • powdered sugar for dusting
  • maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Flatten each slice of bread to about half its thickness using a rolling pin.
  • Step 2: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and whole milk until fully combined.
  • Step 3: Grease a muffin tin. Press each flattened bread slice into the muffin cup to create a bowl.
  • Step 4: Evenly distribute the mixed berries into each bread cup.
  • Step 5: Pour the custard mixture over the bread and berries until soaked but not overflowing.
  • Step 6: Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and the custard is set.
  • Step 7: Allow to cool for a few minutes before removing from the muffin tin. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes
