Ingredients

Pecan Praline Topping

  • 1.5 cups Chopped pecans
  • 4 tablespoons Salted butter Divided
  • 4 tablespoons Brown sugar Divided

Donut Batter

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.75 cup Milk Or non-dairy alternative
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray For greasing the donut pan

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray your donut pan with cooking spray or lightly coat with butter to prevent sticking.
  • Step 2: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and add the chopped pecans. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of brown sugar over them and stir constantly until the sugar has melted and the pecans are fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  • Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  • Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
  • Step 5: Gently fold the cooled pecans into the batter, ensuring they are evenly distributed without overmixing.
  • Step 6: Spoon the donut batter into each cavity of the donut pan, filling them about ¾ of the way full.
  • Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Step 8: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir continuously until the mixture becomes smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly before drizzling over the cooled donuts.
