Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

For Frying and Finishing

  • vegetable oil for frying, about 2 inches deep
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and 1/2 cup sugar until evenly combined.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk 1 cup apple cider, 1 large egg, and 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy.

Form Batter

  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine. Batter should be thick enough to hold shape.

Heat Oil

  • Pour vegetable oil into a deep frying pan or heavy skillet to a depth of about 2 inches and heat to 350°F (175°C).

Fry Fritters

  • Using two spoons or a small ice cream scoop, carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil. Fry a few fritters at a time without overcrowding. Fry 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

Drain and Dust

  • Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels or cooling rack to drain excess oil. While warm, dust with powdered sugar.

Serve

  • Serve Apple Cider Fritters warm with your favorite beverage or as a sweet snack.

Notes

  • Store fritters in an airtight container at room temperature up to 2 days; use a paper towel to keep them crispy.
  • Freeze leftover fritters in a single layer, then transfer to a freezer bag; reheat in toaster oven or air fryer.
  • For a baked version, cook at 400°F for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, for a less crispy but tender fritter.
  • Add diced apples, dried cranberries, or nuts to the batter for extra texture and flavor.
  • Try serving with cinnamon-spiced cream cheese glaze or warm mulled cider for a cozy twist.
