Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken breasts or thighs cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 cup flour or gluten-free flour
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter or extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • to serve sesame seeds and green onion

For the Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup tamari or soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste
  • 6 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

  • Step 1: Prepare the Chicken - Start by cutting your chicken breasts or thighs into bite-sized cubes for quick cooking.
  • Step 2: Season and Flour - In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken with garlic powder, black pepper, and chili flakes. Toss to coat, sprinkle with flour, and mix again.
  • Step 3: Sauté the Chicken - Heat 2 tablespoons of melted butter or olive oil in a large skillet. Add the chicken pieces and cook for about 6-7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Step 4: Add Garlic and Broccoli - Add chopped garlic and broccoli to the skillet and sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green.
  • Step 5: Make the Sauce - In a small bowl, whisk together the tamari or soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, ground ginger, and toasted sesame oil. Pour over the chicken and broccoli.
  • Step 6: Combine and Serve - Stir to coat everything in the sauce, simmer for a minute, then serve hot garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
